Rebecca Lockwood, BA, JD, FHEA

Accredited Mediator | Lawyer | Educator

Rebecca Lockwood is an AMDRAS-accredited mediator with a unique background as a lawyer and also educator with 17 years of experience teaching legal and professional skills across five jurisdictions. She specialises in trauma-informed conflict resolution for educational institutions and mission-led organisations — bringing to the mediation table the same framework she teaches in the training room.

Based in Perth, Western Australia, Rebecca conducts mediations in person, online across Australia, and internationally.

As a mediator

Rebecca was accredited under the Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Standards in 2021 and gained extensive experience mediating in courts in Western Australia before launching her private practice in 2025. Her approach is structured, impartial, and trauma-informed — designed to hold complexity, earn trust quickly, and keep the process moving without forcing it. She works primarily with educational institutions and mission-led organisations, where disputes often involve power differentials, duty of care, and sensitivities that require more than procedural competence.

As a lawyer

Rebecca was called to the Bar in Ontario, Canada in 2015, after graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School and completing her articles under Barbara Jackman — one of Canada's foremost human rights and immigration lawyers. She practised in constitutional, administrative, international, and refugee law, appearing before decision-makers from the Immigration and Refugee Board to the Supreme Court of Canada. That legal background gives her an acute understanding of the procedural and human dynamics that shape complex disputes.

As an educator

Rebecca has 17 years of experience teaching law and professional skills across Canada, the UK, Spain, and online globally. From 2017 to 2020 she served as Senior Lecturer and Programme Manager at the University of Law in Manchester. She founded Grammatika International in 2012, now a leading provider of legal and professional skills training for lawyers, NGOs, government teams, educational institutions, and courts and tribunals. Her flagship training program in Trauma-Informed Practice is delivered to the same organisations she serves in mediation — a rare continuity of expertise that her clients notice.

As a cross-cultural practitioner

Rebecca is fluent in English and Spanish and has working knowledge of French and Italian. She has lived and worked across Canada, the UK, Spain, India, and Australia, and conducts mediations and training in both English and Spanish.

Clients come to Rebecca because conflict is hard and the stakes are real. They stay because she knows what she is doing.
